    Hey everyone, found this podcast for the drug stories at first and after listening for a while and after looking back on most of my past I realized that I had been an addict for years and didn’t know it, I always knew my parents had problems throughout the years and after learning about the ways of the ones in serious addiction I realized that it wasn’t healthy spending money I didn’t have on weed and alcohol every day. While I kicked I listened to every last episode of this podcast and it put me in full out belly laughs and full on crying in my work bathroom, for better or worse I’ll always stand by this dopey nation and I am eternally grateful I happened to stumble across this life changing community, thank you all, stay strong and toodles for Chris man

    I am so grateful for this Podcast and truly hope you keep this thing going Dave. It’s truly amazing to think that you have been pushing these out weekly for over 5 years. I commend you and all the help that is received from your family and others that have joined in over time. My date is 5/20/2020. My latest episode was Vinney. Wow……. Is all I can say. That was one “Dopey” episode of I have ever heard one. I look forward to a lifetime of these with you being a sober man. I have much debauchery and plan to send an email or voicemail sometime soon.   • Life Changing and I’m Not an Addict

    This podcast is so incredible, and I am probably not even an intended listener. I am not an addict nor have I had experiences with loved ones who have gone through the depths of addiction that I hear in the stories on this podcast. However, I was hooked after I listened to my first episode about three weeks ago, which was episode one with Chris and Dave. My heart did break as I continued to listen and learned that Chris passed away. Oh how I wish that didn’t happen! But I am so thankful that Dave found the strength to continue with the podcast. It is so uplifting to hear how impactful this work is for addicts and those who love them. Also, the way Dave communicates and the way he so effortlessly interviews people with compassion and sincerity is a lesson to us all for many reasons, even outside of the realm of addiction. I now bounce back and forth between old episodes and current episodes and can’t get enough. I laugh, I cry, it’s better than Cats (by a long shot :) Thanks Dave for all your hard work and giving of yourself. I used to be an avid Howard Stern listener, but I will say your show is so much more entertaining, authentic, rich, and meaningful. You have this amazing ability to relate to all of your guests, but you never make it all about you. I can definitely hear how you have been influenced by Howard, but you took away only the positive influences in regard to your easy way of talking to us, digging so deep when interviewing others, and highlighting your dad at the end of some shows (I absolutely love that!) In fact, I hope your dad is excited to have another positive review fo read. I would love to hear him read this online :)

  • Entertaining even when taking a beating

    I listened to the one-star reviews and I must admit I just don’t get why people would put so much effort into being negative. Dopey is not only very entertaining, but is also a great way to see the many sides of addiction and recovery. Dave, his dad, and the guests always give their all to make the show as good as it can be. I may not agree with everything they say, and I’ll admit I sometimes don’t believe all the stories the guests tell, but I always look forward to the next show. Scott R in Cali
